I don't know what came over me, but I decided to join this site and do some writing. Maybe it's because I sit in front of a computer all day and around the middle of the month it gets boring between customers, and people aren't posting on the message boards I visit as often as I'd like so there's always something new to read when I go online.

Here's a little background on myself. I'm a 35 year old guy living in Western Iowa, just moving into a different house (last night I slept there for the first time) after 31 years at my last house. Two of my three cats are already somewhat comfortable in the house, as Sherman (the oldest and my bestest buddy in the world) came upstairs to watch TV with me last night, and was reasonably good all night. Sneetch took a little longer, but around 3:00 this morning, she came out from cowering under the stairs to tour the basement and even go upstairs to Dad's bedroom. Bela has been the stubborn one, and I thought she'd be the easiest going of the 3. As of 9:00 this morning, she was still hiding under the stairs, and I don't know if she'd been upstairs yet or not.

I also have a minor health issue...a leg that has been swollen for 5 years. I am finally getting treatment for it, but I have to wait for some sores/seeping to get cleared up before we can really get to work on getting it back to normal. For about the last week or so, I've been having some calamine spray put on it with a bandaid overnight, then keeping it on during the following day, removing it after work. Well, last night I didn't take it off after work and decided to try to get a 2nd night out of it. Mistake. About a half hour after I went to bed, the tape holding the bandaid let loose, probably from being soaked by the seeping fluid, and came off. Also, since I've been using the calamine spray, it seems the only time I have any pain in my leg is when there is no bandaid on the sore. Well, guess what...it hurt like heck all night, and that combined with sleeping in a different bed in a different house with a somewhat restless cat makes for very little sleep. Oh yeah, there was one more thing that kept me from getting a lot of sleep. I'm on my local fire department and carry a 2-way radio. I don't trust it to wake me up when it's programmed to be on just my local tone, so I keep it on "open" all the time, and last night was the most overnight calls I have ever heard in the 4 years I have been carrying a pager or a radio...and none of them were for my department...which I guess is good.

Well, I think that's enough insight into my feeble mind at this time...stay tuned for the next episode.
